3 Ways to Wear the Milo Button-up
Beyond a plain white tee and your old faded jeans, a crisp button-up blouse just might take the crown as the most surefire, go-to piece in your capsule wardrobe. No matter the season, a lightweight button-down proves itself versatile time and time again. From Audrey Hepburn to Princess Diana, the button-up blouse has made its mark as a rather gender-neutral, business-meets-leisure piece in every person’s wardrobe. Lightly structured and universally flattering, the right button-up top looks and feels great worn open, layered, or on its own. This season, the Wearables’ Milo Button-Up gets the spotlight and updates the concept of a button-up with exciting new design.
Made of airy Rayon Voile, Milo shakes up the average button-up. Dolman short sleeves, a flattened “no-collar” collar, roomy fit, and raw-edge hemming bring this top some bohemian vintage influence while the unexpected silhouette keeps the modern touch evident. Milo looks Autumnal and sophisticatedly simple yet vibrant in the emerald-sage green of Giada Pigment. Also available in classic Black or White, Milo makes the perfect layering piece, complementing just about any outfit beautifully.
The rich color of Giada Pigment calls for Milo to be shown off! Wear the button-up with a black or dark-colored midi skirt in a silhouette of your choice. A fitted pencil skirt would balance out Milo’s slight flowiness, but a voluminous skirt could just as stylishly play with proportions to create a truly awesome outfit. Try the Blair Pencil Skirt in rich gray Griffin Pigment with some heeled calf-high leather boots, or choose a bubbly cargo piece like the Benji Balloon Skirt in Black for some added detail and shape paired with chunky platform ankle or steel-toe boots. Throw on a maxi jacket to add even more dimension, and top off the look with some tortoiseshell sunglasses and all your favorite jewelry stacked on top–mixed metals highly encouraged!
Autumn calls for a seamless mix of homespun, vintage inspiration and classic, preppy looks. A textured knit fabric elegantly contrasts with Milo’s Rayon Voile. Layer Milo in White underneath a scoop-neck or oversized vintage grandpa sweater. The “collarless” collar would peek out adorably beneath the neckline of your outer layer and add fun detail to your Fall ensemble. If you’re looking for a soft-as-can-be sweater, the Gretchen V-Neck ticks all your boxes. Cozy and slightly oversized, Gretchen in Evergreen Heather would layer well over Milo for that vintage “worn-in” feel. Pair the look with tapered cropped trousers like the Mona Pant, and add dress socks, loafers, an oversized blazer in black or navy, and of course–cat-eye sunglasses. All you’re missing is a colorful patterned silk scarf wrapped around your head and draped over your shoulder and the look becomes quintessentially high fashion and impossibly chic!
Let Milo loose and try wearing her unbuttoned in Black. Layer the blouse over a simple top like our Othello Tank in your color of choice and tuck it into some mid-rise or high-waisted mid-blue jeans. Loop in a leather belt in tan or camel to break up the color scheme and add some necessary proportional contrast. Highlight the neckline with a few layered gold necklaces and some matching earrings, and finish off the outfit with heeled black ankle boots and a jacket or shawl in a Fall-friendly pop of color like burgundy or cream. Lightweight outerwear like the Enola Jacket in tan-cream Rural Pigment or brick maroon Dark Nubuck would add some additional structure to the outfit and mix up the casual vibe of the open blouse and denim bottoms.
When they’re easy to move in and easy to style, button-ups are the absolute best. Silky Rayon Voile makes for excellent layering fabric, while Milo’s shape and cut enhance each outfit with detail and dimension. Raw edges lend a homegrown feel and a “collarless” high neck adds a contemporary vision to Milo’s look. Worn alone and over or under other tops and outerwear, the Milo Top feels fresh and familiar all at once–perfect for ringing in the season of nostalgia with plenty of optimism and appreciation.
